Free Cleanup
- Free Cleanup is the last two weeks of April and October
- Free Cleanup is limited to SIX (6) individual items
- Each household is limited to only ONE (1) free bulk trash pickup during the allotted times in April and October
- Bulk trash pickup occurs on your regular scheduled trash day or Public Works convenience
- Leave it out where you normally leave your garbage, and Public Works will dispose of it at their convenience. There is no need to notify Town Hall
- Items should not be placed along the road for free pickup any earlier than TWO (2) days prior to the allotted pickup time.
- Limbs/branches must be cut into five-foot lengths, tied into bundles and no larger than three inches in diameter
- When placing appliances for pickup, please be sure to remove all doors
- NOTE: It is recommended that plastic bag liners be used in all residential garbage cans to increase efficiency in collection and to reduce breeding of flies and mosquitoes.
Collection of bulk trash does not include the following:
- Construction materials
- Hazardous materials
- Paints or explosives
Extra Bulk Pickups
- Bulk trash may be picked up throughout the year at the discretion of the Public Works Director. Fees for bulk trash removal are based on the volume of trash. There is a minimum base fee of $50 If you would like to take advantage of this service please call Town Hall at (302) 539-8011, to make arrangements
Yard Waste
- Yard waste must be placed in a clearly marked "Yard Waste" container, paper yard waste bags, or compostable plastic bags. Paper yard waste bags can be purchased at local hardware stores, local grocery stores, or home improvement stores. Compostable plastic bags (made of plant fiber) can be purchased on the internet.
- Collections are year-round every Tuesday with carryover to Wednesday AM as needed
- Brush piles should be tied in bundles, no longer than FIVE (5) feet in length and small enough and light enough for one individual to handle
- Grass Clippings must be placed in recyclable paper yard waste bags or in containers 32 gallons or less that are clearly marked as yard waste on the outside of the container. Filled containers and recyclable bags shall not weigh more than 50 pounds
- Leaves must be placed in recyclable paper yard waste bags or in containers 32 gallons or less that are clearly marked as yard waste on the outside of the container. Filled containers and recyclable bags shall not weigh more than 50 pounds
- Limbs must be tied into bundles no larger than FIVE (5) feet in length and no larger than THREE (3) inches in diameter. Limbs should be tied together and separated into bundles small enough and light enough for one individual to handle
- Logs are no longer permitted in yard waste
- No regular plastic bags or biodegradable plastic bags will be taken after May 13th
- If your yard waste does not comply with pick-up, please call Town Hall at 302-539-8011 to arrange for a special collection. A $50 minimum charge will apply
